Pledge Education
The basic goal of pledge education at the Gamma Tau chapter is to prepare men for membership into Phi Gamma Delta.
Called pledgeship, this period serves the following beneficial purposes for both the pledge and the members of the chapter:
- Educating the pledge about the workings of the Fraternity
- Learning about the history, ideals, organization and operations of Phi Gamma Delta
- Developing an understanding of the importance of personal values and an awareness and appreciation of the values upon which Phi Gamma Delta was founded
- Providing time for the prospective member to become an integral part of his chapter before initiation
- Creating an awareness of the many personal development opportunities available within the chapter and through campus activities
Pledge education serves as a time period of mutual evaluation. It provides the prospective member
the opportunity to better know the men in the chapter who will become his brothers, as well as a more complete understanding of what membership in Phi Gamma Delta entails.
The Fraternity accomplishes this while adhering to a strict no-hazing policy. FIJI's take pride in respecting pledges as individuals and as future brothers.
This educational period also enables the members of the chapter to guide,
teach and develop the prospective member in preparing him for membership, as well as his collegiate career.
Sincerely,
Mike Ritchie &
Sam Green
